Random Friday Facts

1. I like to make up songs about normal every day things, and then sing them when that thing comes up in conversation. My best lyrical masterpieces are about pancakes (pretty pancakes, to be exact) and vacation.

2. I'm on a kick to drink more tea. It's day 6. I've had tea once.

3. As the tall girl is also in training mode, the quantity of sports nutrition in our house has doubled. With random boxes of the stuff all over the place, I finally decided it was time to devote a shelf to it in our pantry. It's gorgeous.

4. I am horribly bad at run math, especially on the run. A 1:20 last lap at the end of a 4 mile tempo? Perfectly reasonable, even if it's in my head only.

5. My favorite meetings are those where I get to diagram or outline things on white boards.

6. People are stupid might be my most used phrase these days. I'm sorry, but it's true.

7. I heart graston battle wounds.

8. Evening track workouts scare the crap out of me. Between the poorly aimed soccer and lacrosse balls, and the misplaced trash cans, hurdles and walkers, the trip factor is through the roof.

9. I'm reading Matt Fitzgerald's Iron War. I'd pretty much read anything by Matt Fitzgerald but this one is especially awesome.

10. I am positively over-the-moon excited about the marriage equality vote in MD. And now I'm wondering why the hell we continue to live in VA?

11. By now, I've usually done several training runs and warm-up races in my race day outfit. With the ever changing weather, I haven't had a chance to do that yet and therefore have no idea what I'll wear for the marathon.

12. Being told that something is well written is one of the greatest compliments that I can receive.

13. Whoever invented fine point Sharpies deserves a medal.

14. I could live in the prepared foods and wine sections of Whole Foods.

15. This is what bedtime looks like at our house:

  1. Funny about the track - I see it as an opportunity to get out my deep seated aggression by yelling at the lollygaggers, mommy chatters and idiots who let their little kids run loose. I do not stray from my lane. They can get out of MY way.

  2. #2 I'm trying to get back on board with tea as well. It's the whole "find hot water" adventure that holds me back. I will run 26 miles for fun but will not go downstairs to heat up water in the kitchen?
#14 Such snuggly faces! I find it much harder to get out of the biscuit when a cute cat face staring back at me!

  3. #1: I don't believe you. I think a youtube video should be made as evidence and then posted here.

    #7: OUCH!

    #12: THIS IS WELL WRITTEN!

    #15: Awwwww

  5. People ARE stupid.

You continue to live in VA in the hopes that at some point the RATIONAL people will outnumber the lunatics who vote these people into office. Ugh.

  6. Fine Point Sharpies are the best!!!!! I need you & Liz's chiro's name, I think I need to get real.

Soccer games are no joke on that track, my heart rate is high due to the fear factor!

Yeah, why does VA seem to be heading backwards?

  7. Yep, Beth is right. People are stupid.

I do math in my head all the time while I am running. It helps pass the time.

  9. One of my new go-to phrases is:
"You can't fix stupid. Not even with Duct tape."

    I big-time <3 the fine point Sharpies.

And I don't do math at all, unless it involves using a measuring tape and counting in 6" increments.

  11. I've actually been thinking about this a lot recently -- "people don't think" might be more accurate. (But then NOT thinking is a stupid thing to do...so maybe it comes full circle?)

  12. I use the phrase "Some people's kids" all the time. Kind of along the same lines as "people are stupid!" :)
